Joining a crew
A friend sent me a link
Open it on your iPhone. With FishCrew installed, it opens in the app. Without it, the page shows the crew's table, your invite code and how to get the app.
Where do I type an invite code?
On the first screen of setup, under Have a crew code? After setup, go to the Me tab and tap Have an invite code? You can type the code or paste the whole message from your friend.
It says the invite isn't active
Invites last 30 days and up to 50 uses, and a crew owner removing someone replaces the crew's links. Ask anyone in the crew for a new one.
I'm on Android
FishCrew is iPhone only for now. The invite link still shows the crew's table in your browser.
Why can't I join a crew at all?
Crews are off for anyone who said they are under 13; measuring and the log still work. If that answer was a mistake, delete the account in Settings → Delete account and set the app up again. A crew can also be full: the owner's plan sets the limit.
Getting a clean measurement
- Lay the whole fish flat on the board, with its nose against zero.
- Hold the camera straight above, close enough that the scale's marks are readable.
- Keep hands off the tail, then take the tail close-up when the app asks.
- No board? The app can show you a free ruler to print, or make an estimate. Estimates only count in friendly crews, and are labelled.
If the app asks for a retake, it couldn't read the scale reliably, so a new photo usually fixes it. When it still can't read the scale, the app may let you place the points yourself; the catch is then flagged as manual.
Crews and tables
When does the week end?
Weeks run Monday to Sunday in the crew's time zone. Catches stop counting after Sunday 23:59, offline uploads stop at Monday 12:00, and results are final at Tuesday 12:00.
Someone's catch looks wrong
Open a dispute on it before Tuesday 12:00. The crew owner decides; if the owner caught the fish or opened the dispute, the longest-standing other member does. A dispute nobody decides stays on the catch as a "disputed" label.
Reporting and blocking
You can report or block a person from their profile, and report a catch photo from the catch. A reported photo is hidden from you straight away; if two people report it, it's hidden from everyone until our team reviews it. For harassment or anything urgent, email us.
Subscriptions
- Restore a purchase: Settings → Restore purchases, signed in with the Apple account that paid.
- Cancel: on your iPhone, Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Deleting the app or your account doesn't cancel it.
- Refund: Apple handles all refunds, at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue them.
Your account and data
Moving to a new phone
Make a transfer code on your old phone first, then enter it on the new one. Your account has no password, so that code is how it moves.
Deleting your account
Settings → Delete account permanently removes your profile, crews and catches from our server. Can't get into the app? Email us. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Can anyone see where I fish?
No. GPS data is removed from photos before they leave your iPhone, the app doesn't ask for location access, and there is nowhere on our server to store a catch location. Setup asks only for your state, for size checks.
